The survey includes 245 respondents collected between January–February 2026. Results focus on real creator workflows, perceived time savings, creative impact, ownership concerns, and adoption barriers.
Data summary
Total respondents analyzed: 245
Valid responses for time-saved question: 241
Key findings from VIDIO’s 2026 survey
1. AI tools are saving real time — but mostly at small-to-mid levels
-
100 respondents (41.5%) save less than 1 hour per week
-
79 respondents (32.8%) save 1–3 hours per week
-
34 respondents (14.1%) save 3–5 hours per week
-
28 respondents (11.6%) save more than 5 hours per week
74.3% of users save up to 3 hours weekly, suggesting AI tools are becoming embedded in workflows — but not yet replacing major editing workloads.
A smaller but meaningful segment (~11%) reports 5+ hours saved weekly, indicating strong efficiency gains for power users.
2. AI is more likely to spark creativity than limit it
Among 217 valid responses:
-
72 (33.2%) say AI sparks new creative ideas
-
53 (24.4%) say a bit of both
-
52 (24.0%) are not sure yet
-
40 (18.4%) feel AI limits their creative input
Only 18% perceive AI as creativity-limiting, while 57.6% report positive or mixed creative impact.
This suggests AI video tools are largely viewed as creative enhancers rather than replacements.
3. Ownership concerns remain significant
Among 235 valid responses:
-
98 (41.7%) are concerned about content ownership
-
78 (33.2%) feel confident about their rights
-
59 (25.1%) are unsure
Nearly 42% express ownership concerns, making this one of the strongest signals in the survey.
For AI platforms like VIDIO, clear licensing, transparency, and data control messaging remain critical trust drivers.
4. Cost is the biggest adoption barrier
Top challenges cited (240 valid responses):
-
Cost of subscription or licensing – 85 (35.4%)
-
Privacy or trust issues – 41 (17.1%)
-
Complexity / learning curve – 39 (16.3%)
-
Workflow mismatch – 38 (15.8%)
-
Other barriers – 37 (15.4%)
Cost stands out clearly as the dominant friction point — more than double any single alternative barrier.
This suggests pricing strategy and perceived ROI are central to accelerating AI adoption.
5. Competing AI tools are widely used
Reported usage among respondents:
-
Adobe Premiere Pro (AI features) – 83 users
-
CapCut AI tools – 81 users
-
Other AI tools – 80 users
-
Descript – 23 users
-
Runway ML – 22 users
The competitive landscape shows:
-
Strong presence of traditional NLEs with AI layers
-
High adoption of mobile-first / social AI tools (CapCut)
-
Broad experimentation with alternative tools
AI is no longer niche — it is mainstream across creator ecosystems.
What this means for VIDIO
The 2026 survey reveals a maturing AI editing market:
-
AI is embedded but not yet dominant in workflows
-
Creators see efficiency gains, but mostly incremental
-
Creativity is generally enhanced rather than threatened
-
Cost and ownership trust are the two biggest strategic levers
For product strategy, this implies:
-
Continue optimizing measurable time savings
-
Communicate ROI clearly (hours saved → revenue gained)
-
Double down on transparency around ownership and rights
-
Position VIDIO not as “AI replacing editors,” but as AI accelerating creators
All statistics in this report are based on anonymized VIDIO user survey data collected January–February 2026 (n=245).
